Redsox get swept and I’m moving to Yankee Territory!

So the Redsox got swept in their series and the Yankees swept the Twins in their series, this is not a good sign for a Redsox fan that is moving into what is most definitely Yankee country. While it is not the city, Binghamton is still New York and that means I won't have too many friends up there when it comes to sports teams. The good news is that it seems like people there like the Mets more than the Yankees and I at least respect the Mets as a hard working team.

But the question is now what should I do for the rest of the season. i think I will root for the Dodgers and the Angels for the rest of the playoffs. As much as I am not a fan of Manny Ramirez right now, I do like Joe Torre and I can now actually respect the man because George S. of the Yankees was dumb enough to let him go as a manager. As for the Angels, I obviously can't root for the Yankees in the ALCS so they are my choice by default. Overall though, I think I would like to see the Dodgers win it all, just so Joe Torre can rub it in the Yankees' faces when he does it. It would only be fitting that the manager they let go comes back and beats them to win it all in the World Series.

UNH Mens Hockey Looses to BU

After an amazing Saturday, UNH fell as the pundits had predicted to BU and their offence. The game was close all the way through the 3rd where UNH had show the fight that got them there in the first place. As a displaced Cats fan, it was heartbreaking to watch tonight's game. Each year when this happens we know that the seniors won't get the chance again, and we must wait another summer and fall to see if we get a chance to watch the team go all the way. The only hope for us, is that we always know the Cats are a force to be reckoned with in the division one hockey lineup every year. Each year we get to go back and root again for the team that keeps all of us New Hampshire natives connected to the state we grew up in and love.

Thankfully, I now get ESPNU which means I will be watching more college hockey than I have before in Maryland. As always, we are behind you 100% UNH, no matter where we are. GO BLUE!

Hagerstown Federals Don’t Advance but are Winners

The Hagerstown Federals proved that they were winners tonight. They proved that they went to play the game of baseball and the went to win the game fairly and not just play for the tie breaker. While I don't like the way the tie was decided, I know that it takes a winner to play a game as it was meant to be, regardless of the technicalities surrounding the advancement to the semi-final round of play.

This post is to you Federals, we are so proud of your accomplishments and you have brought the people of the area together as we rallied around your accomplishments. We can't wait to have you back home so we can celebrate your amazing run at the Little League World Series.

Hagerstown Federals Kicking Butt!

While I must say I have not really followed the Hagerstown little league in the past, this year I am pumped about these guys. They are doing great in the regionals and look like they will be heading to the world series in Williamsport, PA! I must say that in New Hampshire we never played like this and as a transplant former little leaguer in my adopted home town I am excited to see my town kicking butt.

If you are interested in learning more about the little league you can visit their website here. If you want to see how they are doing keep your eyes on ESPN2 for more great little league baseball action!

LA Dodgers Opener: Joe Torre Shows He’s Got it

So the home opener for the Dodgers today showed that even with a new team and some pretty inexperienced players Joe Torre has what it takes to win baseball games. What I would live to see more than anything else is for Joe to destroy the Yankees in a sweep of the 2008 World Series.

While I'm not sure if this is very likely since the Yankees have the money to buy the talent they need I think Georgie in the Bronx basically gave away one of the best managers that the game has seen in quite some time. I would argue that even though my Red Sox have won the World Series two times in the past four years, there is not one year where the Yankees did not put up a strong fight for the AL East title. I think the fact that Joe also won so many of the national titles with the Yankees is a testament to his ability to manage a team and why you would get rid of a successful manager is beyond me.

I think this is yet another situation where Georgie threw a temper tantrum and decided that if his managers couldn't always win the World Series then they weren't going to be part of his team. I hope this proves to be a huge mistake for the Yankees, I still don't know one Yankees fan that can believe they fired Torre and they deserve what is coming their way for doing so.

MLB 2008 – Nationals Opener

So it's that time of year again, when we all don our favorite team's hats, gather around at the ballpark or the TV and watch our favorite players play America's pass time. Today, the Washington Nationals play the Atlanta Braves in the first game ever played at the new Nationals Park.

I must say that the park is beautiful and the Nationals are lucky to have such a great new venue to play for their fans. This new ballpark has me excited about the new season of Hagerstown Suns baseball as well. So excited that I am picking up my old baseball card collecting hobby again if not for me than for my kids who I hope share the same excitement about the game that I do. I figure if I start collecting again now, in another 13 years when they are old enough to appreciate the sport and the hobby.

So far I went ahead and purchased the complete Topps 2007 set and a bunch of new card pocket pages for my 3-ring binders. I forgot how much I love doing this and this year is going to be a lot of fun.

Patriots: Looking Ugly, Loosing as They Should Have

No offense team, but you looked like crap in this game and your loss was well deserved. Where was the offensive line? Where was Brady's passing? Where was Randy Moss? Where were the defensive plays that we needed? All in all it was an extremely disappointing end to a otherwise spectacular season. Now the 2007 Patriots will be remembered as the team that almost had a perfect record. At least I live in Maryland now where there really aren't any Giants fans who could rub it in while watching the game. After all, the Ravens and the Redskins were both so terrible this year most people around here gave up on Football long ago.
