Today Ushers in A New Mentality, A New Hope

As I sit watching the Barack Obama Inauguration and think about what this means, I see a country united in the hope that we will see a better day. A day where we do not have to worry about if the people are being listened to, a day that we do not have to worry about continuing the divisive social and political squabbling that have become the norm over the past eight years.

It is clear that America hopes for a new day, it is clear that the future politicians, leaders, workers and citizens want a new day. People from my generation want change, we are looking for someone who inspires us and has the faith in the American people to do the right thing. We are looking for someone who is not an isolationist but does focus on our own country's internal needs more often than the previous administration.

We are ready to take on the leadership roles in this country and this election forever changes how the young vote is going to be perceived in this country.

Barack Wins Potomac Primaries!

Barack Obama has won the Democratic Potomac Primaries! We kicked butt tonight team! Even if Washington County goes for Clinton over all, the signs of change are all around us. It is clear that things are beginning to shift in this rural part of the state. So with that in mind, say it with me:

Yes We Can!

Yes We Can!

Now we are on to the Hawaii caucuses and Wisconsin primaries!

Rock the Vote: Maryland Votes Feb. 12th!

Rock the Vote 2008: Maryland votes February 12th! Don't forget to get out there and do your part in Washington county! No matter who you are voting for it is important that we all make our voices heard as it is our civic duty to elect who we feel is best to run our county, state and nation.

Polls are open from 7 AM through 8 PM and yoour employer must allow at least 2 hours on within this time frame for you to vote if you are scheduled to work and you would not normally have that amount of time off in between those hours.

For those of you voting in the Democratic primary, please consider Barack Obama for your party's nominee. Hope inspires us all to do more to further ourselves, our country and the world. Don't underestimate the power of this new found energy to move the United States in a new more positive direction that has not been seen since John F. Kennedy.

The Kennedy’s Are Supporting Obama?! Well then I’m Not! Ha!

"Sen. Obama just lost my vote. I see the Kennedys are backing him, so if they're backing him, I certainly don't want anything to do with him." - Williamsport

This is just an amazingly educated response, spoken like a true mindless conservative from Western Maryland. What did Kennedy do for this country? He inspired a generation, effectively stopped the biggest nuclear crisis ever to publicly hit the United States, landed men on the moon, etc. This is why his family has endorsed Obama, because they see the same qualities in him that Jack Kennedy brought to this country in his short time as President. Honestly, you probably were never going to vote for him anyways so why bother even stating this in Mail Call?

Maryland Primary: Do We Count This Year?

Ok, so I grew up in New Hampshire and I liked being one of the first kids on the block to have my say in the electoral process and I am still not sure how much I like this whole February 12th primary date in Maryland. I guess it is better than in previous years, or so I am told, when it was even further removed from the process but I still feel like I am being left out of something important; it's almost like I am entering into a very important decision after it has pretty much been decided for me.

Don't get me wrong, I am still going to vote and I still think it is very important, especially for the younger generation, to get out there and vote this year but I can't help feel left out. I'll tell you that I'm going to vote democrat this year and for Barack Obama in the primary and the general election if he is the nominee and I am pulling for him every step of the way, I just hope I have the chance. Why am I coting for Barack? Because I feel like this country needs a shot of inspiration in the butt and he is the person to do it. You'd be surprised what an inspired populous can do, just take a look at the response JFK got during his presidency even though it was far too short lived. That is what I want to feel and Barack is just the person who can do that for us. Experience is all relative in Washington if you want to use that as an argument against him and I would challenge you to find a president that doesn't have advisers making most of the decisions for them anyways.

I guess I will plunk down my list of candidates in order that I would vote for them depending on who is still in the general election on either side.

  1. Barack Obama
  2. Hillary Clinton
  3. John Edwards
  4. Mitt Romney
  5. John McCain
  6. Rudy Giuliani
  7. Mike Huckabee

So there it is and whether you agree with the order or not, I'm sticking to it.
